House Farm
Coming soon |
Changes to the landscape have a concomitant adjustment to how people conceive of place and space. As farms, countryside, and passenger rail have succumbed to the demands of the automobile, banal retail areas known euphemistically as "centers," "plazas," or simply "the Mall" have re-placed older geographies with new developments named for the lost geographies (i.e., natural features, historic buildings, and farms). The work examines landscapes whose ethos has been lost to demolition, strip development, and sprawl by representing these space in the seemingly familiar form of promotional ephemera: postcards, a travel poster, and promotional material. |
